The actions designed by the Dénia Town Hall revolve around four axes: the green and sustainable transition, the improvement of energy efficiency, the digital transition and competitiveness.

Projects

The first project to be developed is the recovery of the Bosc de Diana park with a budget of 569.000 euros. The creation of this green area, which will be the largest area in the city, was the most voted proposal in the participatory budgets of the city council in 2020 and is an old aspiration also of the tourism sector, which wants to have more green spaces in destiny. The sustainable rehabilitation of Dénia Castle (300.000 euros) and the renewal of the city's museum offer (266.190 euros) are two other actions included in the PSTD 2021.

Work will also be done on the ecological transition of tourism and the promotion of the circular economy (45.000 euros) with the objectives of promoting the ecological transition of the entire tourism value chain, reducing the environmental impact of the activity and designing and implement specific actions that allow efficient management of resources.

Incorporating the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) model in the management and deploying the necessary infrastructures and services to turn Dénia into a DTI is another of the actions included in this Plan, with a budget of 305.000 euros from the 2021 call for its achievement.

The development of an action plan for the Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy project for the next 4 years, aligned with the principles of the Tourism Sustainability Plan, is another of the planned actions. It has a budget of 60.000 euros of the total allocated to Dénia by the Next Generation EU funds. Promoting the content plan and the museographic project of the Mediterranean Gastronomy Center, which will have its headquarters in Torrecremada, is included in the Plan with a budget of 200.000 euros.

The Dénia PSTD also proposes promoting a Local Pact for sustainable tourism that promotes collaborative processes and citizen innovation as a key element for tourism, a project that has a budget of 45.000 euros.

The actions of the Plan are completed by the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 90.000 euros allocated, and the management tasks of the Plan, to which 73.810 euros are allocated.

Regarding the plan, Grimalt commented that "only those who work remain", explaining that, once the projects have been drawn up, now comes "the hardest part, that of the works". The regional secretary has highlighted "the good structure of the PSDTI", noting that it is important that the tourist offer changes according to society and the times; An example of which, according to Colomer's words, is Dénia.

  1. Pink says:

“Tourism sustainability plan to minimize the impact on the destination”…even they don't know what they mean by that. If they want to minimize the tourist impact, stop selling La Marina Alta as their own amusement park, stop building only tourist developments, prohibit tourist licenses in flats, apartments and houses located in residential areas, in the middle of neighboring communities .destroying the daily and real life of the neighbors. Everything else is just to get money from the EU and spend it on what they want.
