The City of Dénia wants to improve the image of waste management in the city. To this end, it has designed several lines of action that pass through citizen awareness through advertising campaigns and in social networks and the incorporation of novelties and reinforcements in the service.
But in addition, it is expected to reward those who recycle with the implementation of a card for users of the ecopark with which they will accumulate points each time they are going to deposit waste. These points, according to Crespo has commented, will be reflected later in discounts on the rate of the garbage.
As a counterpoint, Josep Crespo Has indicated that from now on "We will be more serious and rigorous in the control of those who make improper or inappropriate use of containers on public roads and with the penalties that entail and can reach 2.000 euros of fine".
And it is that the collaboration and citizen involvement is fundamental in this aspect. In this sense, to promote selective recycling and facilitate the work of citizens, starting next week, new selective collection containers will be installed at various points in the urban area. Specifically, after a study of the needs detected, three new glass containers will be placed, in addition to the 57 already existing; 20 new ones for paper, which are added to the current 40 and 22 new ones for packaging, which reinforce the 38 already installed. This increase in containers will soon be extended to the dissemination, starting with the areas of Montgó and Les Rotes.
Likewise, the Councilor for the Environment has announced that work is underway on the implementation in Dénia of the so-called 5 container, destined to the organic garbage deposit. The fifth container is used to recycle bio-waste or organic waste generated in the home or in the garden and its implementation is necessary to comply with European regulations stating that the selective collection of these organic waste must be at least 50% of Total in 2020.
Free collection of furniture and fixtures
In order to facilitate the recycling of furniture and fixtures, from the council it is indicated that there is a free service to collect this type of waste of greater size, which any citizen can request by calling 901 101 150. The service is provided daily, from 8 to 15 hours. In addition, in the morning and afternoon, the user can deposit them personally in the ecopark.
New points for the mobile eco-park
Another of the measures that the Environment has adopted to promote recycling is the extension of the hours of the mobile eco-park that is installed, from Monday to Saturday, in various parts of Dénia and also in La Xara and Jesús Pobre. The service, which until now only worked in the morning, will also be available in the afternoons, incorporating new destinations such as Valgamediós Square, Pont Street or Carlos Street. Sentí.
