Dénia will award with 3.000 € the winning story of the First Prize of Narrative for Children-Juvenile in Valencian

After several years looking for ways to make it a reality, the Department of Culture of the City of Dénia has convened the I Prize for Child-Youth Narrative in Valencian Ciutat de Dénia, an open competition for people of all ages and nationalities that will reward 3.000 euros and the publication of the story thanks to Andana Editorial.

This literary contest seeks stories for readers between 9 and 12 years, one of the most demanding and important public of the panorama, since it is about the future great readers of our society. For Ricard Peris, from Andana Editorial, this literary contest is a great opportunity both for the authors of the area and for the city of Dénia, which allows "vindicate youth literature as the most important", and not as a minor genre.

Bases of the First Child-Youth Narrative Prize in Valencian Ciutat de Dénia

Those interested in participating can present their original works from the 24 from May to the 23 from July. They must have a minimum extension of 30 pages and a maximum of 70 folios, and will be presented in Arial font, 12 points and double spaced line spacing.

The works will be presented in the Dénia Public Library in digital format (USB or CD) in .pdf file and also printed, by triplicate. The archives will be identified with the title of the work and a pseudonym and will be accompanied by a sealed envelope with name, surnames, DNI, address and phone number of the author; a signed statement certifying that you have not previously committed the publication rights of the submitted work and that you are not subject to another contest pending resolution. Each author may present the works he considers, always in an individualized manner.

After the presentation deadline, a provisional list of the titles received on the City Council's website will be published, and a deadline of 15 days for possible allegations.

The jury will be composed of a representative of the City of Dénia, a representative of the MACMA; dos de Andana Editorial and a person specialized in children's literature. In the month of October its verdict will be announced.

The winning work will be published by Andana Editorial and will receive a prize of 3.000 euros. In the month of December the presentation of the book will be celebrated in an act that will be complemented with other cultural activities.

The head of the Library of Denia, Llúcia Signes, has been satisfied with this call, in which they have been working for a long time. For his part, the councilor for culture, Rafa Carrió, recalled that this call is linked to the census of authors of the Marina Alta which was launched a few months ago by the Dénia Public Library.
