Mayor, Vicent GrimaltAnd the Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, have met telematically this morning with the directors and directors of the educational centers of Dénia, a coordination meeting that began during the pandemic and, given the good results, the parties have decided to maintain it on a quarterly basis.
As it could not be otherwise, one of the topics discussed has been the implementation of the reception protocol for newly arrived students, especially the displaced, which the Generalitat Valenciana has sent to all the centers of the Community to deal with the arrival of Ukrainian boys and girls who have fled their country at war.
Topics such as the schooling of these boys and girls or the psychological attention they will have to receive have been addressed this morning. An attention, by the way, that wants to be extended to students from Ukraine and Russia who are already schooled in Dénia and who need support to emotionally manage the situation in their countries.
The Councilor for Education has promised to keep the centers informed with developments regarding aid or new guidelines that may arise in this situation.
School cleaning contract
Melani Ivars has also reported on the new cleaning contract for the city's public educational centers that has not yet been awarded due to pending resolution of the allegation presented by one of the competing companies.
This new contract -he added- includes improvements that solve the shortcomings of the previous one, such as the extension of cleaning hours more in line with the needs of some centers.
Family conciliation
The Councilor for Education has announced that, thanks to the grant received by the Dénia City Council for the development of the project "Professional care packages for families with children under 14 years of age" of the Co-Responsible Plan of the Secretary of 'State of Equality and against Gender Violence, as of this month of March, early riser schools in public centers will be paid for with this aid and not with the contribution of families and AMPAs.
Melani Ivars has also offered the directors of educational centers to pay for workshops or activities that they launch to promote co-responsibility and the reconciliation of work and family life, charged to this subsidy.
In another order of things, the educational centers of the Community must prepare, before the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, with the collaboration of technical personnel from the Municipal Administration, a plan for resource sustainability, energy efficiency and waste treatment, that they will include in their management project. At today's meeting it was agreed that municipal technical staff will develop a model type of plan so that each center can later adapt it.

Finally, the attendees have agreed to hold a monographic meeting on the schooling ratios, which the centers want to reduce and for there to be a more equitable distribution, the result of which will be transferred to the Education Inspector so that the necessary measures can be taken "to have a higher quality in Denia's classrooms”.
