Dénia, a month and a half later, abandons the extreme risk of contagion

Strong restrictions have been required, weeks with a curfew and waiting for the high summer season to come to an end, but Dénia finally abandons the extreme risk of contagion. This is seen in the new update of COVID data by health department, which attends to the results of the PCR tests carried out since last Friday.

The capital of the Marina Alta no longer appears in red on the map. On July 16, the municipality exceeded 250 infections per 100.000 inhabitants, which is why it was placed in the feared situation of extreme risk of contagion. This is the highest alert level that marks an extreme situation of the pandemic.

However, the summer is ending and it seems that with it the high risk. Overcrowding and COVID have never gotten along, so high seasons are still the pending issue for tourist municipalities. Luckily, the vaccination has meant that a saturation of the hospital has not been feared and that Dénia has not registered a single deceased in recent months.

New coronavirus data in the Marina Alta

The latest Sanitat update leaves encouraging data in the Marina Alta. After a very hard summer, the region comes out of the extreme risk of contagion, placing the accumulated incidence at 208 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants.

Since Friday, 72 new positives have been registered, just half that of the last update that 144 cases were registered.

Of the 6 municipalities that were at extreme risk of contagion, 4 are still in this situation: Xàbia, Teulada-Moraira, El Verger and Tormos. For their part, Dénia and Calp leave this level and are at a high level of infections with an incidence of 214 and 210 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants, respectively.

In this update, 12 municipalities have registered new positives:

  • Benissa: 4
  • Hit: 5
  • Stone: 3
  • Wavera: 1
  • Gorgos Cat: 3
  • Benitatxell: 3

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Marina Alta has registered 14.346 positive cases, of which 355 are currently active. The death toll remains at 205 deaths.
