The dramatic photo of little Alan on the beach, who lost his life while he and his family fled from the cruel war that is ravaging Syria, their country of origin, has raised society's awareness of the reality that Syrian citizens are currently living .
Dénia has not been alien to this reaction, and the City Council has announced its willingness to join the network of refuge cities to help people who try to escape from that harsh reality.
The local government team, formed by PSPV-PSOE y Compromís, will transfer this idea to the rest of the groups in the welfare committee next week, and has launched its commitment to prepare reception facilities, while inviting the public to get involved and collaborate, as far as possible, in the attention and help to the refugees.
Immediately, the Dianense executive will launch an auxiliary registry of cozy homes in the Office of Social Services, in Piazza Archduque Carlos. Likewise, the Solidarity Roundtable, formed by the Red Cross, Interparroquial Cáritas, the Salvation Army and the Evangelist Church, will be convened, with the aim of coordinating actions and aid plans from the municipality.
