19 September 2020 - 01: 51

The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the rector of the Universitat d'Alacant, Manuel Palomar, have signed a new agreement for the financing and development of the Centro de Gastronomía del Mediterrini UA-Dénia, Gasterra, based in Dénia.

Gasterra aims to develop training, research and knowledge transfer activities, as well as university extension, related to gastronomy and to train otherwise qualified professionals.

Currently, the center is located in the CdT Marina Alta de Dénia and during this 2020/2021 academic year he will teach the 3rd edition of the Master's Degree in applied Mediterranean rice and haute cuisine, in addition to other training and informative actions.

However, the will of the City Council of Dénia, the Universitat d'Alacant and the Generalitat Valenciana is to go one step further and create a university campus of Gastronomic Sciences-Center of International Excellence in Training and Gastronomic Innovation in Dénia. Specifically, as has already been announced, on the Torrecremada estate.

For this reason, the signed agreement establishes that to develop this project a mixed commission will be constituted made up of the UA, the Generalitat and the Dénia City Council. The commission will be in charge of preparing an action protocol, deadlines and financing for the rehabilitation of the Torrecremada estate, which will also include a study of the needs of the units that will make up the campus. The agreement temporalizes the actions and establishes that this protocol "It will have to be signed within three months of the start of the agreement."

The financial contribution of the Dénia City Council to the agreement, which is valid for four years, is 109.410 euros in the 2020 financial year and 79.410 euros for the rest of the annuities.
