Dénia doubles the budget for work-family balance to make nurseries more accessible

22 2020 April - 11: 17

Dénia City Council yesterday announced the package of measures agreed with the other municipal groups and technicians from different departments, in order to revive the local economy in the face of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A budget of 1.466.750 euros will be allocated to social measures. With this, they will undertake different actions to help the most vulnerable families, people and groups, assuming that this crisis will hit them hardest.

The first of these measures approved is the increase in the amount dedicated to direct financial aid for those people who cannot cope with basic needs (housing, food, drugs ...). This item doubles and goes from 230.000 that were planned to 600.000 euros.

Similarly, the budget for aid for the reconciliation of work and family life is also doubled. In this way, it seeks to facilitate the reincorporation of work obligations to those families with children under 2 years of age and in which no member can take care of them. This item amounts to 100.000 euros and will be used to leave children in kindergartens and nursery schools.

300.000 euros will also be allocated to new direct aid to families and 20.000 euros to complement the rental aid of the programs of the Generalitat Valenciana.

For all this, the staff of the Dénia social services office will be strengthened, with 2 new social workers, a social educator, an administrative officer and an assistant for home help. The councilor, Cristina Morera, predicts that service requests will grow and will not stop once the confinement is over, so this reinforcement team must cover the extra work derived from the crisis.
