The eternal question of whether denominate Dénia town or city is over 400 years ago, when King Philip III through V Marquess of Denia and Duke of Lerma, Francisco Gomez de Sandoval y Rojas, gave to Dénia real privilege title city, which so far only sported in the Region of Valencia, Xàtiva, Orihuela, Segorbe and Alicante.
Today, 400 years after that event, Dénia celebrating his birthday with a series of events that will recall the time lived in 1612 and that will extend throughout the year.
In the 11: 30 morning, a memorial extraordinary plenary session in which will read an official statement by the spokespersons for each party against the original title, which was restored last year and remain exposed in the Chamber held Plenary sessions. How Dénia held the title of City in 1612
