Dénia cries out against gender violence lamenting the "long road" that remains to be traveled

November 24 from 2017 - 16: 49

Dénia joined this Friday, 24 in November, to commemorate the International Day against Gender Violence. The Plaza del Consell has been the scene in which the City Council has held an institutional event in which there has been theater, poetry, music and a manifesto.

The act began with a performance performed by students from the Escola de Teatre Comarcal ETC Marina Alta and the theater workshop of the Classrooms for the Third Age. A few words from the mayor Vicent Grimalt, have given way to the reading of the 25N manifesto prepared by the Consell de les Dones of Dénia, which has been read by the spokespersons of the municipal political groups and the president of the Consell de les Dones and Councilor for Equality, Elisabet Cardona.

In the manifesto, he regretted that "It is clear that despite the progress made, there is a long way to go", since violence against women "It does not stop, it is perpetuated and presents itself with new manifestations".

The text appeals to a necessary change of paradigms to end this social scourge. A change based on a co-educational school, on responsible media with a gender perspective, on the co-responsible use of time in the family environment and in a new public space that allows the development of healthy and free relationships. It also alludes to the need for an economic transformation "that allows a change in the way of life such as the economic independence of women", which guarantees their personal autonomy. Finally, the manifesto calls for public policies developed by personnel with specific training in gender perspective and sexist violence.

During the ceremony has been honored, with a minute of silence, the women and sons and daughters murdered in Spain this year, appointed one by one. Finally, Françoise Crespo has read one of the poems in his book To be like i feel, Titulado Do not sap estimate, accompanied by the violoncello by Alicia Giner.
