Dénia aspires to European aid to boost the cultural and creative sectors

The entrance of Dénia, in 2015, in the UNESCO Creative Cities network allows the municipality to access a series of European-level grants that seek to boost the cultural and creative sectors, with a global budget of 1.460 million euros, the call Creative Europe for the 2014-2020 period.

Last January, Dénia requested financing for the project Food Creative For Europe, an initiative that will analyze the role of creativity in gastronomy, gastronomic festivals and the preservation of gastronomic cultural heritage.

The planned actions are the exchange of creators, study visits, alliances between cultural operators, analysis of good practices and transfer of results. The cost of the project is 40.000 euros and together with Dénia, Parma, Bergen and Östersund participate.

This initiative was explained by the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, in the informative day European funds for municipalities organized by the Provincial Council of Alicante in the MARQ on the occasion of Europe Day. Grimalt intervened, together with the mayors of Teulada, Alcoi and Calp, in the block dedicated to experiences of urban projects promoted by town halls, exposing different initiatives that the city of Dénia is carrying out in collaboration with other Creative Cities of the Gastronomy of the UNESCO network and with funding from the European Union.

The mayor stressed that networking with other cities allows Dénia "Access to financing opportunities from the European Union, work in intercultural environments, achieve a better international projection of our cities and carry out innovative projects through cooperation with the agents of our territory, such as companies, institutes and universities".
