The City Council of Dénia joins one more year to the commemoration, on June 28, of the LGTBI + Pride Day with a program of visibility and awareness activities that began yesterday Tuesday with the presentation of the "Diagnosi on sexual diversity to the municipality of Dénia", the starting point, prepared by the UNED at the request of the council, of the future Local Diversity Plan, "the first in the region and in the province of Alicante", has highlighted Javier Scotto, Councilor for Equality and Diversity.
The objective is that this previous study, which analyzes the perception that the city has of the LGTBI + collective, serve as the basis for drafting the plan, which is expected to be approved in July. Among the conclusions, Scotto has pointed out some significant percentages, such as, from a negative perspective, 86% of people interviewed who still claim to feel some discomfort with manifestations of affection between people of the same sex o 92% who acknowledge having felt or participated in jokes about the collective. "Two figures that show that social progress does not go in parallel to the legislative one."
As positive data, on the other hand, 76% no longer consider a taboo subject sexual diversity and a 65% express acceptance and normalization before the possibility of having LGTBI + relatives.
Program of events Les paraules no fan por. Nor is the diversity
The results of the diagnosis, the councilor insisted, show that the actions of visibility of the LGTBI + collective and awareness of the population, such as those that are part of the program on the occasion of the Pride Day. The most striking, because it is "the first permanent urban intervention with a gender perspective", is installation in the recently remodeled and pedestrianized Tenor Cortis square de The kiss bench. As of June 23, it will invite citizens to show the affection we feel for loved ones, "couple, whatever sex, parents, children, friends; because affection does not have to be repressed."
El Day 25 will be represented in the Social Center the work Instructions for not having in case you see the Shepherdess, La Ravalera Teatre, inspired by the life of shepherdess, intersex person persecuted and vilified by the Franco regime. The performance will take place at 19.30pm.
On June 26, three emblematic squares of Dénia (pl. of the Constitution), Jesus Poor (pl. from Poble) and the Xara (pl. by Merge Serrano) will host the Wings for diversity, made by a fallero artist and whose objective is to make the fight for LGTBI + rights visible, encouraging the population to take pictures and fill social networks with images.
Finally, on the 28th, LGTBI + Pride Day, the facade of the Dénia City Council will light up with the colors of the flag that represents the collective. In addition, throughout the day it will take place in the House of Culture, and also online, the seminar "Police, diversity and rights education", where subjects such as security, culture and historical memory from the LGTBI + perspective will be addressed.
