In the plenary session of the Dénia City Council held last Thursday, different issues were approved. Among them, the acceptance of powers that the Generalitat Valenciana transferred to Dénia to rehabilitate the Pare Pere de Jesús Pobre school.
The delegation of these powers is in the field of educational infrastructure for the adaptation, rehabilitation and construction of the dining room in the school, an action that is part of the Building Plan of the Ministry of Education. The works have a budget of 746.000 euros and will be carried out in 2023, when the project will be drawn up and the bidding for the works will begin, and in 2024, with the start of the works, according to the Territory Councilor, Maria Josep Ripoll.
The alderman Javier Scotto, also mayor of the EATIM of Jesús Pobre, stressed that “it is a historical demand for much-needed infrastructure. There is only one primary school in the town and it has to be in the conditions that are needed”.
Scotto closed his speech by thanking the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and to the Department of Urban Planning, with the councilor Maria Josep Ripoll at the helm, "the efforts to unblock this matter, since we expected this delegation of powers since it was requested in 2018".
Breastfeeding Unit
The city council also unanimously approved an urgency motion in which it is requested to request the Department of Universal Health and Public Health and the Dénia Health Area Management to create a Breastfeeding Unit attended by specialized health professionals where it is reported , advise, diagnose and treat all those issues of mothers and nursing sons and daughters with difficulties or problems with breastfeeding.
Until now, this task is being carried out by the Grup Nodrissa, which created a breastfeeding workshop in 2007 and has developed it continuously until today. For a long time now, the advisers of the Nodrissa Group have met with mothers for whom breastfeeding is not easy and have turned to this group to find out what the problem is and find a solution.
Many of these consultations take place during lactation workshop meetings, but they are really personal consultations that require a lot of dedication and time. That is why it is important to create, within public health, specific breastfeeding units that can attend to these cases, explains the approved document.
The motion also expresses support for the Nodrissa Group in all its claims and for the task of advising, providing information and helping mothers who choose to breastfeed.
Xaloc d'habitatge office
Finally, in matters of urgency, it was unanimously agreed to renew the agreement for the development of the Xaloc Housing, Rehabilitation and Urban Regeneration office in Dénia.
The Dénia office has been the first of the Xarxa Xaloc that the Generalitat launched in the Community last year as a pilot project. The purpose of this service is to advise, manage, inform and carry out social mediation in matters of housing, rehabilitation and urban regeneration.
