Cyber Arena 17, the small initial video game store has been able to adapt to new technologies, changes and the revolution of the smartphone, becoming a workshop, store and exhibitor of the new mobile phones, tablets and video games on the market. It has done so, without losing its essence, with a familiar and close relationship with the client.
We spoke with Raúl Santacreu, the young entrepreneur, who today has become the manager and founder of one of the leading mobile, technology and repair shops in the Marina Alta.
- Raúl, are you from Dénia?
Yes, from Denia. I was born here and I grew up. I would not change Dénia for anything in the world, although I love to travel and feel like a citizen of the World.
- Why were you interested in the world of technology and video games?
They aroused a special interest in me. What fascinated me most was all I could create myself with my hands and a PC. Through technology and video games, I found ways of communication, leisure and personal progress.
- You started at home, advising friends and helping acquaintances solving technology problems ... Tell us something else ...
Yes, it all started at home. That was more. I immediately realized that I could help other people with their technological problems. And little by little everything grew.
- When did you think about opening your physical store? How old were you?
It was curious. There was a moment when they rang the doorbell from the house above, to the door below, to the cell phone and to the house phone, almost at the same time. When that time was repeated several times, the difficult thing was to have done the opposite. It was like a sign.
- If you could go back, would you change something you did?
No, every mistake of the past is a success of the future. The experience is unique. We must learn from the successes, but especially from the mistakes to keep improving.
- Do you have any quotes or phrases that define you?
Now I can not think of any. But I guess I would talk about work and passion for what you do ("Choose a job you like and you will not have to work even one day of your life." Confucius).
- What is Cyber Arena?
It is a dream come true.
- What does Cyber Arena offer?
Cyber Arena is not just a store of new technologies and video games. It is a place where you can buy and repair any appliance, but also obtain information and solution to your doubts. It is a place where people are helped to make themselves understood better and have fun with the machines.
- How were the beginnings of Cyber Arena? Why did it start?
It began, as I said before. My mother's house was small. And I bet on pursuing my dream rather than buying a car, or a house. And there began to get people to buy video games, consoles, to bring the computers to repair ... Thanks to all these people and the team of Cyber Arena we have reached the current where we are.
- What was Cyber Arena and what is it today?
Let's say it went from being a small shop to a great trade in Denia connected to the world, although with the essence of the principle: the passion for what we do and the personal treatment with our customers.
-What was the most demanded before and now?
Ugh ... in so many years there has been everything. But in short, video games in the past, now smartphones. Our clients have always valued attention and knowledge, to be up to date.
- Already 17 years ago that CyberArena started, you have been able to live different stages, changes in technology, the arrival of the smartphone ... how did Cyber Arena live each stage?
The most important change was from the era of videogame consoles to the smartphone era. It was a radical change, in a moment. People stopped buying so many game consoles, and they switched to Smartphone, which changed the store and, really, life to all. Interest in videogame consoles still exists. And we all use a computer these days. But everything points to that "The Gaming Era" is going to arrive with force. Electronic sports are just around the corner and will be a revolution.
- How did it evolve when you decided to switch to Avda. Alicante?
As I indicated, we moved from a smaller place, to a 3 times bigger place. Now we have space for everything, with different areas: store, workshop and "gamer" area. We have come out winning with the change, but mainly because our clients are more comfortable. It was a big change. In every sense.
- How have you managed to be referents in La Marina Alta?
I imagine enjoying our work. All this, I insist, is thanks to our customers and my colleagues.
- How do you keep up and know all the news?
The information is there. Following the interests. Now the information channels are much more accessible. Although it is true that after so many years living the sector day by day we have some "tricks".
- Do you prepare something for your 17 anniversary?
Yeah right. We are going to celebrate it all, with a gaming party and many surprises.
