Red Cross Dénia returns to the street for the Day of the Little Flag, two years after the last celebration

After a year in which the pandemic has prevented this and many other events from being carried out, the local assembly of the Red Cross of Dénia will return to the streets with great enthusiasm to celebrate the Day of the Little Flag.

A total of 14 collection tables, made up of both NGO volunteers and collaborating associations, will be installed on Saturday 13 in the busiest areas of Dénia to be close to the people who want to participate. It is one of the most important dates of the Red Cross with which to obtain funds for its projects, its president in Dénia tells us, Edward of the Morena, allocating on this occasion the obtained to promote activities related to childhood and Youth area in general.

It has been a year in which the coronavirus has not allowed the volunteers of Red Cross take to the streets to be close to the people on this important date. In 2020, Day Banderita It was carried out online with an account number, an experience that adds to the celebration this year allowing the donation by Bizum to the number 01406, specifying in the observation or comment that it is intended for the local assembly of Dénia, since it is an account to Nacional level.

In this way, elements of the pre-pandemic era are added, such as the tables and volunteers and collaborators in the street, with others online more typical of the era we are living in. In addition, recreational activities such as mats for the little ones will have to wait for future editions, since the health situation still prevents this type of facilities. It is also time to look at the sky, because the rain is another of the concerns of the assembly for the celebration of this Saturday, which they hope will not make an appearance.

Projects for Christmas

But this "collaboration party", as De la Morena defines it, is not the only project on the horizon. With the Christmas holidays so close, the Dénia Red Cross is focused on several projects that seek to move forward with the collaboration of the neighbors. Some in order, like the Flag, to raise funds for the assembly, such as the sale of tickets for the Lottery Christmas, which can be purchased from the volunteers who distribute on the street or at the headquarters in Dénia. Of the 3 euros that the ticket is worth, 50 cents will be for the funds of the NGO in the municipality.

On the other hand, the toy collection with which they seek to return smiles to children in situations of vulnerability or social exclusion of Dénia. To do this, they ask for the collaboration of the residents of the city so that they either donate money with which they can acquire what will be gifts for these little ones or directly deliver the toys. Of course, De la Morena insists that they seek the donation of new and unused toys, since "they also deserve to open a box for Christmas."
