Dénia City Council convenes, in collaboration with the Valencian publisher Andana Editorial, the fifth edition of the Ciutat de Dénia Children's and Youth Narrative Award in Valencian, coordinated by the Municipal Public Library.
The prize is endowed with 3.000 euros and the publication of the winning work in Andana Editorial. The period for submitting works is open and will close on May 16, 2022.
According to the bases, which can be consulted in the Dénia City Council website and Andana Editorial, people of any nationality can submit original and unpublished narrative works, written in Valencian and suitable for children's readers (9-12 years), whose length is set at a minimum of 30 pages and a maximum of 70.
The originals must be submitted in pdf file format, recorded in a USB port or on a CD, and also printed in triplicate, stating the title and a pseudonym of the author. The works and the rest of the documentation required in the bases must be delivered to the Public Library of Dénia, calle de Sant Josep, number 6.
At the end of the presentation period, the provisional list of titles received will be posted on the City Council and Andana websites, giving a period of 10 business days to present allegations. Once these have been resolved, the final list will be published on the aforementioned websites.
The jury, which will be made up of two representatives from the Dénia City Council, two from Andana Editorial, a representative from Macma and a specialist in children's literature, will announce its verdict in October, at the award ceremony , in which the published winning work will also be presented.
The aspects that the members of the jury will value from all the originals presented are literary quality, originality and creativity, lexical quality and variety, the adaptation of the plot and language to the age of the readers or the ability to create characters. that captivate interest.
