Bittersweet news that the City Council has received regarding the General Structural Plan. The report on the Environmental Declaration presented to the Ministry on December 18, 2020 has not been as positive as expected, although they have received it with optimism.
The main obstacle they run into is the impossibility of, for now, promoting the expansion of the city. Madrigueres Nord is the area that had been chosen and presented to be the main vector of urban growth in Dénia. Conselleria knocks down the option of creating residential land between the sports center and the one known as the Dénia-Ondara highway (CV 725) to restrict any growth that is not concentric.
Despite this, the Councilor for Town Planning, Maria Josep Ripoll, assures that it has been a "milestone" and celebrates having settled the environmental phase that leads to the end of the process, the urban phase, which will culminate years of work.
The Madrigueres case admits that it is a setback, but they point out that it may be something temporary and that now the creation of residences will focus on "finishing the city", closing it by areas already planned such as the Bosc de Diana or Torrecremada.
