February 08 from 2018 - 16: 46

The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, along with the mayors of Oliva and Gandía, David González and Diana Morant, has held this Thursday morning a meeting with the Minister of Housing, Public Works and Vertebration of the Territory, María José Salvador, to talk about the Tren de la Costa .

During the course of the meeting, the Councilor has announced that a work commission will be created to follow up on the planned actions for the development of the Tren de la Costa. This commission will be formed by representatives of the Generalitat and affected municipalities.

In this regard, the Councilor stressed that "The joint work and collaboration between administrations is the greatest potential we have to make a common front and that our voice be heard in Madrid", and explained that the Ministry of Public Works has included the first phase of the Tren de la Costa in the Cercanías Plan that it recently presented and that includes the extension of the C1 line between Gandia and Oliva, with a valuation of 120 million euros, and the duplication of the Cullera-Gandia stretch.

Before this, the councilor wanted to put in value the "negotiation work of the Generalitat in this plan to achieve the inclusion of this infrastructure". The Commission will devote special attention to the development of the Gandia-Oliva section and hopes that the allegations made by the municipalities and the Generalitat will be collected.

Salvador has remarked that these regions have 544.000 inhabitants and "It is incomprehensible that they do not have a rail connection, while other areas of Spain with much less density have high speed trains".
