Condenados al Bordillo takes up his project "Som equals, som diferents"

17 March 2021 - 10: 55

Another year, the Condemned to Curb Association has put into operation the project "We are the same, we are different", which is carried out in the Educational Centers of Dénia and the region of La Marina Alta.

The main objective of this project is to raise awareness, seek and bring to light the reality and needs of people with different abilities, their day-to-day life, their effort and the limitations they encounter, in order to "normalize" the disability within the community and obtain support that favors inclusion. Due to the very special situation, this course we have reduced both the number of people participating in the activities and the number of courses they are aimed at.

All sessions are supervised by people with different types of disabilities and comply with all current regulations regarding safety regulations.

Depending on the people who participate, there is some flexibility in the content, although it is mainly focused on five blocks:

  • Conferences, awareness talks and group dynamics. For many students it is the first time that they establish a direct relationship with the group, which allows them to discover many aspects that, either due to lack of information or because they have never contacted the group, they were completely unaware, so it is a way extraordinary to sensitize the school community about the reality of the group.
  • videos. They show the reality and the day to day of the group.
  • Know and practice different adapted sports activities. Wheelchair basketball and football, Athletics, Bowling, Boccia, Kin Ball, Jenga and adapted cycling.
  • Inclusion in the world of work. Several Association workers with different types of disabilities share and explain what having a job has meant to their lives.
  • Presentation of the book "Els colors de Pasqual". Condenados al Bordillo has published, thanks to the collaboration of the Dénia Rotary Club, "Els colors de Pasqual", written by Pascual Cervantes, a user with cerebral palsy who talks about his experiences, and which includes poems and reflections on disability.

The project is a reality thanks to the collaboration of the Dénia City Council, the Alicante Provincial Council and the confidence and joy that the educational community shows towards the project.
