Compromís per Dénia presents its "very ambitious and complete" program, "but realistic"

May 05 from 2023 - 13: 08

«The Dénia we want is: a Dénia that dialogues; a lively, green, and sustainable Dénia; a cultured and healthy Dénia; and an inclusive Dénia and for people ». This is how I listed yesterday Rafa Carrió, Candidate for mayor Compromís, the axes of his electoral program The Dénia that we fly, made with «the force of dialogue».

The Valencian supporters took advantage yesterday in their last open café before the official start of the campaign precisely to discuss some aspects of his programme, made public last Monday, as well as to continue collecting proposals in order to integrate them into it, since according to what they have been insisting: "ours is a participatory, open and accessible program until the end, in fact there are some QRs in the document linked on social networks to make comments, contributions, as well as WhatsApp is still open (658717850) Y the email to receive them," he said. Valen Alcala, team candidate.

We want a Dénia that dialogues

In this section, the strong role that the Valencian supporters want to give to the voice and vote of citizens stands out. "We will reactivate all the sectoral councils and participatory tools: participation and dialogue will be transversal to all policies." The port of Dénia also has its space: "we will continue demanding and working for an Autonomous Port, first calling for the Port-City Space"; or the neighborhoods of Marines, Montgó and Rotes because, for the Valencianists, "Dénia is much more than its center and we will agree with these neighborhoods on an annual investment plan for all the necessary actions, among others". La Xara and Jesús Pobre appear amended to "give them more self-government, since they are towns with the ability to manage and decide."

We want a lively, green and sustainable Dénia

The city model for which Compromís is committed is a benchmark Dénia in energy efficiency and ecological transition, which protects the environment, agriculture and fishing, beaches and the animals; with a strong commitment to the fight against climate change, promoting renewable energies, more environmental education and more green areas (such as the Bosc de Diana or making the parking lot behind the Costa Blanca hotel). In this sense, they refer to their prioritization of making more streets for people, but with solutions to the parking deficit with parking on TRAM tracks, with efficient and connected public transport, and sustainable mobility that facilitates the use of the bike.

They also talk about promoting work and a quality and stable occupation "with measures that safeguard the rights of workers and workers." According to Compromís, this involves diversifying the economy, working for quality tourism all year round and protecting our local businesses. "We are much more than sun, beach and shrimp", they say, and for this reason they want to undertake more aid, works and revitalizing activities in the primary and industrial sector; promote the value of culture and the natural environment as tourist attractions, "with a tourist tax that helps us improve public services", and a commitment to carry out more campaigns, vouchers and support for small businesses and the Market.

A cultured and healthy Dénia

This axis describes the Valencian commitment to promote local producers and artists with a strategic plan from the Council of Culture, initiatives to value cultural heritage, the Valencian language or festive culture (such as the creation of a space multifunctional in Torrecremada); commitment to vocational training and university culture.

They also talk about sport and health, with the desire to work to do more and improve sports spaces, a master plan, reactivate the Fiesta and the Sports Council or create tourist attraction initiatives such as "Dénia, city of Running".

An inclusive Dénia and for people

"At Compromís we work to guarantee rights, values, putting people at the center of policies, and this has been demonstrated by our ministries at the Botànic". In this sense, they refer to continuing to work to complete the Pla Edificant and Pla Convivint projects, in terms of education and social services, such as the pending educational centers, the new conservatory, or the new residence, the CEEM and the CRIS. In addition, they talk about scholarships for students and an increase in places from 0 to 3 years.

They also undertake to guarantee more psychiatry and psychology professionals coordinated with social services, and to objectively guarantee spaces for non-profit associations. Young people, the elderly, equality and LGTBI+ also have initiatives in the program. And finally, guaranteeing housing, one of the strongest commitments for which the group wants to work.

Compromís has been detailing sections of its program, but it can be downloaded in its entirety on the page denia.compromis.net.

last open cafe

Rafa Carrió described the program as "ambitious, and very complete, but realistic: we are very committed to complying with what we say, that is why in our program you will find real proposals, and the first thing we will do if we govern is to agree on the projects, negotiate them and obtain financing" . Carrió added that "we are not selling smoke to anyone, mainly because we are not governing and we cannot commission projects or start tenders, but we can commit ourselves."

This will be the last open café carried out by the collective, "another participatory channel that we have enabled to make ourselves available to people face to face." Already in the campaign period, the group will be touring the neighborhoods "from inch to inch", and permanently at information tables on the following dates and locations:

  • Next to the Market, on Friday mornings, May 12 and 19.
  • In the Archduke Carlos square in the afternoon, on Thursday, May 18 and 25.
  • In the Torrecremada market, Monday May 22.
  • Plaza Valgamdeu, Wednesday 24 in the afternoon.
