Compromís requires banks in Dénia to become interested in serving citizens

May 10 from 2022 - 12: 26

Why this deal after how much they owe us? Basically, this is the question that was asked this morning Compromís in front of the branches of two banking entities of Marqués de Campo. Despite the bank having been rescued with so much public money, we continue to have an extreme dependence on them, the banks, even to be able to collect our salary, becoming a great inconvenience when access to the place where they keep your money is increasingly limited .

The elderly are the most harmed by practices that they denounced today Joseph Nadal, deputy of Les Corts, and Rafa Carrió, spokesperson for Compromís per Dénia, in front of two of the indicated "culprits". The digital divide has fully affected generations whose contact with new technologies has been almost nil. However, the banks insist on eliminating any close and human treatment, leaving only labyrinthine touch screens impossible to understand for those who have not been trained for the technological leap. The elderly, therefore, only find barriers when it comes to carrying out procedures as vital as accessing their pension. "Can any pensioner collect without a bank?" Carrió wondered.

This "disinterest" of the bank to stay close to the people is what has motivated the Valencian formation to create the campaign 0% interest. “0% interest in returning the ransom money, in attending you in person, in keeping the offices open and in keeping the jobs,” reads the propaganda that they distributed among passers-by.

Despite the 100.000.000.000 euros that the rescue cost, according to Compromís insists, the bank's attitude has been to increase its profits at the cost of stopping serving people. In fact, another big problem in most municipalities (half of the Valencian towns, according to Nadal) is that they have been left without branches or ATMs nearby. This not only means that people have to travel miles to get in touch with their money, but also thousands of workers have lost their jobs.

In this line, Nadal regretted having treated them with the rescue as a special sector when they do not show how special they are, quite the opposite. Therefore, he intends, together with his training, to put enough pressure on the central government so that they force the banks to rectify and ensure "good treatment for the elderly and citizens in general."

  3. Pere says:

These same politicians who in recent years have insisted on sinking the banks and especially the Savings Banks, now insist on asking them for a good service. It is the height of demagoguery and sinvergonzoneria.

I totally agree – a service to the people they are not. I recently received letters from my ex bank (ex Bankia now Caixa telling me how much money I have saved by having my pension paid to them!!! what they really mean is that they have not yet decided to change me for the privilege This is after closing my account 6 months ago!!!
