The autonomous secretary of Turisme, Francesc Colomer, has highlighted Turisme's support for various requests from the sector collected these days and that this Friday he was able to share with some business entities.
In this sense, he has indicated that his intention is to suggest to the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, that at the next Conference of Presidents request the modification of the capacity of the service provided at the restaurant table in phase 2, among other issues.
This was stated by Francesc Colomer during the meeting he held with the Business Cercle Marina Alta (Cedma) and the Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Marina Alta.
Colomer has explained that, among the suggestions collected, "We agree on the need to move the percentage of table service to be expanded inside catering establishments, which currently stands at 40%, to the extent that the interior space allows, ensuring the social distance of security". "If this request is not possible, at least urge that the capacity for indoor consumption be increased to 50% in phase 2, as is the case with the terraces in phase 1", has nuanced.
It has also included a request that "The interprovincial flow of citizens is allowed, since this mobility would directly benefit the tourism sector, one of the hardest hit during this pandemic and that needs to be reactivated as soon as possible."
The head of Turisme has stressed that "These requests will always be subject to health security, because the main and priority is to guarantee the safety of citizens, but it is also necessary to introduce new advances to boost the tourism sector."
Francesc Colomer has also transferred "the need for the required quarantine for international tourists to end when the state of alarm ends" and that "This measure has generated some confusion in international markets and we should all contribute to clarify that, once the state of alarm passes and air traffic and the opening of borders restarts, tourists will be able to return as long as the measures of necessary security. "
The head of Turisme has stressed that "The most important thing is always the safety of people, but we must align ourselves with the position Europe is taking to emphasize the need to reactivate tourism as soon as possible, establishing corridors between regions that are in an advanced security situation."
