2.000 near dianenses requested assistance due to lack of resources in 2012

If three years ago only 20% of people seeking help were of Spanish nationality, in 2012 turned the tables, and the percentage of Spaniards who requested some help to eat or dress rose to 80%.

This is just one of the worrying data that emerge from the annual memory of the Evangelical Baptist Church La Trinitat de Denia, which has been helping the most needy people in the city for over 10 years.

Last year, 1.998 people came looking for help in one of their programs, which include food programs, self-help programs, soup kitchens, children's breakfasts or clothing distribution.

Antonio Calero and José Vicente Gilabert, members of the Church, explained that in 2012 5.826 menus are served in the service soup kitchen and food bags to 372 local families were delivered, which means that aid has reached 1.382 people .

Each week, the Evangelical Church has distributed an average of 846 kilos per week of food to the families most in need of Denia.

The novelty of children's breakfast

This year, before the alarming increase of children who come to school without having successfully completed the first meal of the day, breakfast, the Evangélica Bautista Church has launched a children's breakfast service.

As explained members of the Igesia, children receive a glass of milk, cocoa or fruit juice, for those who do not accept lactose, pastries (muffins, croissants, biscuits, cookies, etc), and a sandwich to take to school and to consume at recess.

Breakfast is served from 8: 00 8 to: 45, Monday through Friday at the Social Eater Church to children whose families are unemployed or without state aid.

The importance of volunteerism and collaboration of citizenship

In order to reach as many people, the Evangelical Church supported a hundred volunteers spread across all of its programs, most of them (33), helping the soup kitchen. Nine people are responsible for the distribution of clothing, seven food distribution; 25 of food collection; 14 13 organize logistics and help in counseling programs.

To recruit as much food and clothing, the Evangélica Bautista Church of Dénia La Trinitat installed tables periodically collected food at the doors of supermarkets, arriving to pick up on 2012 43.000 kilos over food and almost 14.000 kilos of clothes.

These actions bind specific events, such as food collection organized on Sunday during the celebration of the presentation of the Municipal Sports Schools Football at Camp Mena Diego Cuesta, where requested nonperishable food such as rice, sugar, oil, vegetables, dairy and meats.
