Welfare takes stock of what has been 2012 for the Department of Addiction Prevention

The Department of Addiction Prevention-UPCCA of the Department of Social Welfare has made a balance of the activities, actions and programs developed during the last quarter of 2012.

The department carried out a social skills workshop aimed at 6 students from Primary schools in Denia, La Xara and Jesús Pobre, in which a total of 386 students participated.

The objective was to promote, improve and develop the competence, abilities and social skills of the students to know how to relate, self-assert and cope with the influences and pressures of the group, know how to take autonomous and responsible decisions, as well as encourage positive activities towards health by good use of free time.

Along with this workshop, a Mimarte representation was also developed, by the mime Peter Roberts, who obtained a global rating of 95'3% on 100 among the attendees of the function, represented before the students of the 2º ESO IES Historian Chabàs.

These actions are subsidized by the Equality and Youth Unit of the Diputación de Alicante whose objective is to influence the prevention of abusive or improper consumption of alcohol and its consequences, making young spectators think.

In collaboration with the NGO Control Club, Prevention of Addictions organized in November the campaign Alcohol can wait, In which they participated 460 students of 2º of ESO of the city.

At the end of the campaign, students were given a questionnaire on consumer habits, informing them about the effects and risks. They also performed a practical activity consisting of filling in a crossword puzzle with questions and answers to reflect on the risks of alcohol.

During November, the information and training program on the effects and risks of use / abuse of drugs, aimed at students of 3º of ESO, was also carried out. 8 groups have participated in the IAS Historian Chabas and number 3. During the month of February, the activity will be held at the Maria Ibars.

As a novelty, this year the National Police Corps has collaborated in the program, offering students information about the Law on Protection of Public Safety and the Penal Code in relation to crimes against public health.

The informative program Parlem on Drugs For students of 4º of ESO; Another directed to students of Bachillerato and subsidized by the Diputación of Alicante, and the representation of the work Enters, Seen by 590 secondary and high school students, have been other activities related to the prevention of addictions that have been carried out in Denia during the last months of 2012.
