Historical Library Municipal Archives of Denia: Juan Blanquer donation Vives

This summer, Mr. Juan Blanquer It has established itself donating a conjunto book of great interest to history and research, Which had previously been deposited in the Municipal Archives. It works:

THE GENERAL GEOGRAPHY OF THE KINGDOM OF VALENCIA

The work comprises 4 volumes, with a format of 28x19 cm., edited by the publishing house of Barcelona Alberto Martin in the early twenties and directed by Francesc Carreras Candi, who, among 1908 and 1925 faced the issue of global studies: General Geography of Catalonia; General Geography of the Kingdom of Valencia; General geography of Galicia; General geography of the Basque Country Navarro.

Regarding Valencia, the volumes of the work correspond to the provinces of Alicante, Valencia, Castellón and a volume dedicated to the whole territory dealing with issues such as gográfica general description and the physical, geology and paleontology, agriculture, language and a very important part of Archeology and Art José Sanchis Sivera he made, canon of the Cathedral of Valencia, and direct disciple of dianenses historiados Roc Chabas.

Books of Valencia and Castellon were performed by the writer Carlos Sarthou Carreres and Alicante chronicler Francisco Figueras Pacheco Alicante (Alicante 1880-1960)

General Geography of Alicante, with 1204 pages, begins with the physical description of the territory, followed by history, the study of population, wealth and civil, ecclesiastical, military and communication organizations and then deals, one by one, with all the towns of the province grouped by judicial parties and complemented with photographs and with plans of all the coast of Alicante and the interior mountainous areas.

On Denia, besides history, it gives us interesting news of the years 1910-1914, for example, the lighting and water supply:

neighborhood is rated moderately potable, and comes from a well ...
Public sources are installed in the Plaza of the Constitution,
Market Redonda and my goodness, streets and Loreto Bridge and dock

General Geography of the Kingdom of Valencia
It is an essential work for a historical library and thanks to this donation it is available to the citizens of Dénia.
