Baleària has renewed the Global Safe Site COVID-19 seal granted by the international certification and inspection entity Bureau Veritas, which validates the good practices of prevention of the shipping company against the pandemic. In June of last year, Baleària became the first shipping company in the world to obtain this certification. In this renovation, Baleària has added 4 more ships; Thus, 20 ships in the fleet and the two maritime stations directly managed by the shipping company (Dénia and València) have obtained individual certificates to the highest degree (Excellence). In addition, it is planned to add another two ships that are currently stranded.
It should be noted that no trace of COVID-19 was detected in the more than 800 laboratory analyzes of samples collected from Baleària ships between June and December 2020. All these periodic measurements of the possible presence of the virus on surfaces, which are carried out to obtain the Excellence category, they were negative, which shows the effectiveness of the cleaning plans implemented on the ships. In addition, during the period of validity of the first seal, the certifying entity carried out more than 50 documentary and implementation audits.
These results demonstrate the effectiveness of Baleària's procedures, which last year implemented numerous safety protocols on its ships, where constant cleaning is carried out with certified virucidal products and disinfection with nebulization and ozone generation systems. On boarding, hydroalcoholic gel is dispensed and the temperature of passengers is taken with thermographic cameras, face totems or manual thermometers, and access to ships is given priority through online boarding passes. In addition to reducing the capacity of its ships, last year it installed more than 6.000 screens in direct passenger service areas and in seating lounges, as well as signs to maintain social distance and posters and videos that recall the recommendations.
