The shipping company Baleària, together with the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, Health and the authorities of the different autonomous communities, it has programmed an additional vaccination plan to be able to complete the immunity of its crews, which operate in Spanish and Community flag vessels. In this way, the shipping company, which already has half of the immunized crew, will reach one hundred percent.
The company today started this additional vaccination plan, and together with the Autonomous City of Melilla it has administered the vaccine to the 40 crew members who were not yet immunized from the Bahama Mama ferry, which operates the line of public interest. A health unit has traveled to the ship to administer the Janssen vaccine, which only requires one dose.
Moreover, Baleària has held meetings with the authorities of the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community to coordinate and schedule the vaccination of the crew pending the schedule in the coming days.
The company appreciates the commitment and interest shown by the authorities of the Balearic Islands, Melilla, the Valencian Community, as well as that of the DGMM, which, with direct dialogue with Foreign Health, will guarantee the vaccination of the rest of the crews that are not covered by the protocols marked.
In addition, Baleària wants to value the great effort and professionalism that all its staff have been making in the prevention and fight against COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic and in order to guarantee maximum safety to passengers.
It should be remembered that the international certification and inspection entity Bureau Veritas has renewed for the third time the Global Safe Site seal for Baleària, which it obtained for the first time in June 2020. Baleària has established a capacity reduction in all its vessels, an extra measure that goes beyond those established by the health authorities. In addition to the mandatory use of the mask on board, the shipping company provides hydroalcoholic gel and maintains a specific cleaning plan, with certified viricidal products and disinfectants. To promote social distance, Baleària continues to promote online booking and billing, and its entire fleet incorporates posters and videos that recall the recommendations.
