The Real Club Náutico de Dénia hosted last Saturday, January 19, the start of the fishing contests of the Dianense club. The pagell fishing contest was held on a day marked by the poor state of the sea, but that did not prevent the fishermen from achieving good catches and celebrating this long-awaited competition.
Armando Sáez, with his boat Andalusite and a total of 5.58 kg captured, was proclaimed winner of this edition. The second place was for The Xara of Lino Roselló with 4.265 kg and third place for José Salvador and his boat La Moguda with 4.06kg. The trophy of a major piece, with a weight of 0.78 kg, was achieved by Frank Ivars of La Bamba.
The boats started the fishing day at the 7: 00 hours and managed to add catches up to the 13: 00 hours, marked moment for the weighing of the pagell. The day continued with the awards ceremony, given by Amaya Sáez, club manager; the vice-president Juan Riera and Juan Ferrer, vocal of fishing. Finally, attendees enjoyed a fantastic meal in the halls of Real Club Nautico Denia.
