Álex Pella and Lalou Multi intend to beat the Ibiza-Dénia record aboard the trimaran Arkema

19 2022 April - 13: 53

Aboard the Arkema Álex Pella trimaran and the Lalou Multi team they will try to beat the Ibiza-Dénia record. The ship will arrive at the Sports and Tourist Port Marina Dénia on May 1 and, during that week, the new feat attempt is scheduled to take place.

This record is already held by Pella, since March 22, 2007, when he achieved it in 5 hours, 18 minutes and 11 seconds, beating with this mark the solo record held by Daniel Parrés to date.

Ocean sailing is scheduled in Dénia as the Lalou Multi team will fine-tune the trimaran for a week. “It is an incredible opportunity for our city since this type of event highlights the importance of sailing. It is also important that we value Dénia as a nautical tourism destination”, says Gabriel Martínez, director of Marina Dénia.

The test will serve as training for Quentin Vlaminck who is preparing to do the Rum Route this year and Álex Pella will be part of his team from land. Pella knows the route well, as he made history by achieving victory in 2014 after investing 16 days, 17 hours, 47 minutes and 8 seconds.

In 2017, Álex Pella and Lalou Roucayrol won the 13th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre, aboard the Multi50 Arkema, after 10 days, 19 hours, 14 seconds and 19 seconds of sailing between the port of Le Havre (France) and Salvador from Bahia (Brazil). With this brand they broke the previous record set by Franck-Yves and Kevin Escoffier in 2005.
