Álex Climent recognizes that he has “a long way to go” to try to win a place for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Being at the 2024 Paris Olympics is a medium-term goal and every day counts. Valencian Álex Climent knows that he cannot lower his guard if he wants to be well positioned for the Olympic event. When he got on a board at the age of 15 he did not imagine that Kite Surfing could bring him such a goal. The sportsman from the Marina El Portet Sports Club assures that “I am very competitive, and I knew that if I started competing I would go all out, but imagining that I might finally be able to go to the Olympic games, is something I didn't think about ”.

Regarding her partner, the ten-time Freestile world champion and also a sailor from Marina El Portet de Dénia, Gisela Pulido, says that “I would love to compete in the Olympics with her by my side”.

The Valencian, who has his second residence in Dénia, explains that “when in the games in Brazil the possibility that a modality similar to Kite Surfing could be Olympic was considered, we all came up, but when in the end it did not happen, It was very disappointing, so now that we have the possibility of the sport being present in Paris, kite fans are very excited ”.

At the age of 32, Álex Climent combines his work in the family business with his professional life in elite sports. "I train every day because this is what I want to do and right now, more than ever, I can't stop perfecting myself," he says.

The athlete comments that he likes to train in Dénia due to the weather conditions, but remembers that "we must be careful because in this sport we fly over water and on certain occasions it can be dangerous if it is not done wisely." In this regard, he points out that “I have reached 75,3 km / h. and I aspire to beat the Guinness record which is at 80 ”.

For an athlete of the stature of Climent, who won the World Cup bronze two years in a row, it is very important to have a sailing material that can get the most out of it. And so it is. "The competition equipment is quite personal and just when I began to test it, the health crisis arrived, so I have not been able to test it completely and in some tests I had problems due to lack of habit," says the athlete.

The next competition in which the member of the Marina El Portet Sports Club will participate will be the weekend of May 8 to 10 in Pinedo. It is an appointment in which great international athletes are expected to arrive, so the Valencian must put all the meat on the grill. "After the European Championship, scheduled for May, has been canceled, and the World Cup is in the air, the Pinedo competition is expected to have an important fight", stressed Climent.

The athlete has just renewed his sponsorship with Marina El Portet and the club wishes him "at least as many successes as he has achieved so far", in the words of the entity's director, Luis Mira.
