Orange alert: AEMET warns of the risk of high temperatures this day

12 July 2021 - 09: 14

We fully entered a new heat wave episode when we had barely recovered from the previous one. However, it has little to do with it, as this time the thermometer will rise even higher to record the highest temperatures of the year.

The State Meteorological Agency has activated the orange alert in Dénia and the rest of the north coast of the province due to temperatures that could reach 40º during the afternoon. However, it is possible that in the most coastal areas the temperature is lighter, but we will not get rid of registering up to 36º.

Of course, everything will depend on the behavior of the haze, which since the last hours of yesterday afternoon barely allows the sun's rays to pass through, and the wind. The extremely warm air mass has left almost the entire peninsula, now concentrating on the Mediterranean coastline. In fact, while temperatures are increasing rapidly here, they are decreasing in the rest of Spain.

The strip where this rise in temperatures will be most noticeable will be in the afternoon, starting at 13:00 p.m. At night the thermometers will go down until they recover a temperature that is also inappropriate for the date (this time due to low), since tomorrow a cooler Atlantic air mass will enter.

Are they normal temperatures since we are in summer?

Despite repeatedly hearing the opposite, these temperatures have nothing to do with what is usually recorded on the date. No, not "it is normal because we are in summer".

The Climatological Laboratory of the University of Alicante has wanted to insist on this aspect since there are places in the province where values 10 or 15 degrees higher than the average of the time will be reached. "And if there is still someone who doubts, he could lend a hand tomorrow in the field or on the job site (or anyone who works outdoors), which surely these workers (the great forgotten in these situations) will appreciate it", they point from their social networks.
