Àgueda Micó and his team have presented the Força, poble, futur candidacy for the VIII BLOC National Congress to be held on June 26 and 27, 2021. A choral candidacy presentation in which Àgueda Micó has been accompanied by Vicent Marzà , Joan Baldoví and two referents of the region, such as maria jose garcia, Secretary of Organization of Compromís per Dénia, and Gerard Fullana, councilor in Xaló and provincial deputy of Compromís in Alicante. The presentation was attended by dozens of grassroots militants, mayors and mayors and councilors of the Marina Alta.
Àgueda Micó, current secretary general of the BLOC-Compromís, aspires to turn her second term into a stage of re-founding the party. The candidate has outlined the ideological and working lines of her candidacy, based on the papers presented for debate in Congress. Along these lines, he assured that it is time “to re-found the BLOC to turn it into a tool for national and popular construction in the Valencià Country and make it even more useful for citizens. Now a re-foundation of the BLOC is needed, and it is more necessary than ever because adapting and evolving in the company of society is in our DNA. A refounding that we will do from our values, which are the fight for a just, prosperous and sovereign country, from the left, feminism, environmentalism and territorial cohesion. A country of free and dignified people who look to the future.
During the event, Àgueda Micó has announced that both Fullana and Garcia will be part of the new National Executive if the candidacy is chosen in the Valencian party congress. For the candidate, one of the main challenges in the new stage is precisely "to improve the connection of the National Executive with the municipal base of our party, which is where we have grown to become the governing party that we are today." For this reason, he added, “there will be a team of people from all over the country who will be in charge of listening to local groups and improving communication between us. In a team that has to consolidate us and make us grow territorially, the figure of Gerard Fullana, a true leader of the opposition to neo-Zaplanism in the Alicante Provincial Council and at the same time a reference person for the Compromís collectives of these regions, could not be absent. And in his company will also be Maria José Garcia, an emerging value in Dénia, the Marina Alta and the whole of the country.
Public services, territorial cohesion and change in the production model
For Àgueda Micó, some of the challenges pointed out to the congress presentations to which the Valencian left has to respond have a lot of presence in the Marina Alta. «The commitment to quality public services is aimed at recovering a public health system and ending the private model of Marina Salut, which in this region they know perfectly well that it is against people's interests. We will continue to monitor that the one belonging to all of us is returned to public hands », he stated. Another of the most important issues is “territorial cohesion and the fight against the climate emergency. Both things happen to promote, once and for all, the coastal train that connects the Marina with the rest of the country with quality public transport.
In addition, for Micó, «we have to advance in the change of the productive model and overcome the tourist monoculture on the coast. Tourism yes, always with all labor rights but with more added value and always with alternatives to grow from other sectors. As for the municipalities in the interior of the region, «the fight against depopulation has to gain importance in public policies in our country. Territorial cohesion and equal opportunities in all Valencian municipalities, regardless of the population they have, are a fundamental element in the national and popular construction of the Valencià Country and absolutely indispensable for a political project like ours ”.
