Registration open for the IX Red Shrimp

After the success achieved in previous editions, the Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Marina Alta (AEHTMA), in collaboration with the Dénia City Council, have convened the IX edition of the Dénia Red Shrimp International Creative Cooking Contest that will be held on March 3 at the Dénia Municipal market (Alicante).

The registration period to participate in the contest will remain open from January 10 to February 10 at 14:00 p.m. During this period, all those professional chefs linked to a hospitality company or a gastronomy training center will be able to electronically fill out a form on the official website of the contest, www.gambarojadedenia.com, where they must submit their culinary proposals around the Fetish product of the Marina region, the "red shrimp", which should be the main raw material for its elaborations.

Once the date of receipt of proposals, a pre-jury will study the recipes and choose eight finalists that will be announced on February 18 on the website of the contest. These eight preselected chefs will cook their dishes live and in front of the public during the creative contest in the Municipal Market of Dénia. A jury formed by culinary experts, chefs and gastronomic critics will evaluate the creations according to the presentation, the taste and the importance of the “red shrimp” in each dish, proclaiming the winner of the contest.

The eight chefs will compete for three cash prizes: the winner will get a € 2.500 check, while the second and third place will get a prize of € 1.500 and € 1.000 respectively. In addition, they will receive a sculpture by Toni Marí.

The International Creative Cuisine Contest of the Red Prawn of Dénia has since its first edition been a unique opportunity for the promotion of young chefs who seek to develop their gastronomic creativity with one of the Navy's star products.
