1.200 school witness the release of two turtles on the beach in Dénia

All schools in Denia were present on the morning of Wednesday in the release of turtles held at the Playa del Raset in which two copies returned to the sea after being recovered by the ARCA Oceanogràfic of Valencia project.

In an area bounded by fences, schoolchildren were able to witness firsthand the return home of a copy of loggerhead turtle, common in our waters, and one green turtle, not as usual at our expense.

Before the release, members of the Oceanogràfic explained to children the dangers these specimens if humans do not take care of our environment, because in this case are animals that feed on jellyfish, a food that often confused with bags plastic and makes them be hurt. Before his release, members of both copies Oceanogràfic approached the children, who could see them very closely in the minutes before his departure to the Mediterranean. Then we proceeded to the release of the loggerhead turtle, something stressed by the ride managed to reach the shore and dive into her new life. Behind her exemplary green turtle was released, somewhat smaller, which followed the footsteps of his partner and within minutes reached the water.

Thanks to the Ark project each year are rescued hundreds of copies of turtle across the Valencian coast who are treated for his wounds in the Oceanogràfic of Valencia and returned to the sea when they have recovered.

Dénia has already hosted several occasions turtle loose, although the latter has been the largest of those held so far.
